Blistex Medicated Relief Review

Blistex Medicated Relief Lip Cream Review
The only lip balm in drugstores which mention 'medicated', and is marketed towards those with chapped or cold sore lips. Does it work though?

IMPORTANT: Please read before the review
This is aimed at those with chapped lips. Chapped lips is not just a bit of dry skin here and there. It's when a plastic like film covers your lips, and it not easily removed with any sort of lip scrub. If you want pictures of chapped lips, please see my 'solution to chapped lips'. I would not recomend to by this if you don't have cold sores, chapped lips or quite severe dry lips, as you will find it doesn't work was well for you.

REVIEW:
Quality:
It's a cream - which differs from a balmy substances, as most balms have a bit of wax. With chapped lips, emollient creams work best, as they sink in to the lips, instead of sitting at the top like waxes. This lip cream works well, as it sinks it very quickly, and there is very little substances still on top of your lips, but enough to protect your lips from thinking they don't have any more moisture, and creating another thick film.
It tingles - it numbs the lip a bit. If you have experience chapped or sunburned or cold sore lips, you will know it burns a bit, or if pretty painful. Having it tingle and cool down the lip is pretty therapeutic, and helps a lot with the pain. If you have just dry lips, you may find this just another mechanism brands add to make it seem like the product is working, but from my perspective, Blistex's thought about the pain and burning from unhealthy lips.
Works quickly - When you purchase it, you should open the package quickly, and pop it on, as it works pretty much immediately. As it's a cream, it sinks in, and the tingly works quickly as well. Surprisingly, it doesn't sit on the film on your lips, which is awesome, but really sinks in. It doesn't remove the skin, so after 30 minutes, use a soft scrub (eg. sugar scrub), and rub your lips, to get rid of the film, and the dry skin. Then apply quickly after, to rehydrate.
SPF 15 - I like the sunscreen, especially as chapped lips or cold sores can be due to sunburn. It's something i try and find in my lip balms, and I'm glad they added it in the formula.
It isn't a long term lip balm - After a few days, will need to start using your old school lip balms with it. The product helps with your lips removing the pain and film, but doesn't help too much with moisture. I would recommend applying it, and letting it sit for a minute or so. Then, apply your normal lip balm (eg. paw paw cream, or chapstick). It will replenish more moisture back into your lips.
9/10

Packaging
Nicely packaged, similar to the look of a prescription kind of cream. The applicator is great, similar to the lip applicators in lip gelees (from MAC). Haven't had any problems with it yet, and doubt I will.
10/10

Price
Only 5 AUD for 6 g, and is found in drugstores and super markets. That is equivalent to around 5 or less dollars in the US. I found the price quite reasonable and maybe even pretty cheap if you generally by department store lip balms.
10/10

Overall
Pretty pleased with the product, and I've found that it helps a lot for those with chapped lips, or lips with cold sores. 9.5/10.
Will repurchase if I run out
