Skincare Basics

Hi everyone!
I've recently been asked about the basics one needs to really start using skin care products. What are essentials, and what things different skin types should take in mind when they are picking out particular skin care products.
So, here is all my advice that should cover the ultimate BASICS of skincare. Hopefully, I'll continue with other advice on skin care in more detail in a few other blog posts!

What you want to start with:
-A cleanser/face wash
-A moisturiser
-Some makeup remover

Let's start with makeup remover first:
It's important to get a good makeup remover, either a cleansing milk or a cleansing balm. You can even use cleansing oils (which I totally advocate for). You need a product that can thoroughly remove any makeup you have worn all day, and doesn't dry out or harm the skin. Avoid makeup wipes or foaming makeup cleansers. These will not only leave some sort of residue on your face, but generally have a bizarre pH and dry out the skin.
Follow the instructions of the makeup remover, and use a warm cloth afterwards to heat up and wipe up any residue.
I recommend: Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil.

Face wash:
Stick with cleansers which don't foam, and don't have anything very harsh within their ingredients list. Even with oily skin ESPECIALLY with oily skin, don't just go with the very thorough and foamy kind of cleansers, but instead, stick with a good sensitive skin cleanser. Find something with a slight oil content (very little), but no soap, no 'oil free' and no gels.  I find that using a mini face towel when taking off the cleanser helps slightly exfoliate the skin, without being too abrasive.
I recommend: Handful of quick oats in warm water

Moisturiser:
Don't ever skin moisturiser, even if you have oily skin. Try using thin oils if you have very dry skin (olive or grapeseed are a huge recommendation) underneath the moisturiser. If not, then try out moisturisers targetted to your skin type. Just AVOID MINERAL OIL. It's one of those things that I find in a lot of moisturisers, and it's surprising that some high end brands still use it. I'll talk about it later, but long story short, it just sits on your skin. Try thinner moisturisers at first if you dislike having sticky feeling on the skin. Oily skins - I recommend stuff with the acne buster ingredients -salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide (just look in the ingredients list).

Any questions, leave down in the comments, I'll get back to you ASAP.
